A familiar API. A local foundation.

Thumela is a transactional email API for South African businesses and the developers who build for them. It sends for our own products today. Public access is not open yet.

These pages describe the implemented API and Node.js client. The public interface may change before launch. Examples require an organisation, a verified sending domain and an API key provisioned for internal access; joining the waitlist does not create any of these.

Transactional by design

Use Thumela for messages prompted by an action or relationship: sign-in codes, password resets, order confirmations and account alerts. Marketing messages are rejected. There are no tracking pixels or rewritten links.
